It's Really Happening!

I'm starting to believe that we're really going to get to live in this house one day!  Things are starting to happen quickly now!

April 9, 2019

Elevator parts were delivered and left in the atrium awaiting someone to assemble and install them.

April 10, 2019 12:27PM

The appliances arrived!

The bathroom vanities had to be moved to the appropriate floors using a fork lift.

April 12, 2019 3:47PM

Kitchen Cabinets were installed!

April 12, 2019 4:24PM

We selected the pavers for the driveway.

April 17, 2019 10:52AM

The master vanities were installed.  It was a tight fit.  With the vanity top, the vanity measured slightly more than the 72 inch opening, requiring the sheetrock to be trimmed.  The workmen were complaining about how heavy the vanities were.  They made a point to tell me that each vanity weighs 400 pounds.  I replied, "I know!  My husband and I moved them by ourselves into storage."  They didn't say too much more after that!  :)

The guest bath vanity was much easier to install.

The other master bath vanity went in a little easier than the first one.

I was a little disappointed in the half bath vanity, but I'm sure it will look fine once it is installed.  It is so hard to choose things from a picture on the internet.

Still no elevator...  Here's a picture looking upward into the elevator shaft.

The builder is calculating where the posts should go for the deck railings.

April 29, 2019 2:47PM

The elevator was being installed.

Post placements for the 2nd floor deck.

April 30, 2019 1:03PM

The elevator installation continued.

May 1, 2019 1:34PM

Elevator call buttons installed.

Microwave/Double Oven was installed.

Hole was cut in A/C closet for air intake.

May 2, 2019

Support was added to the guest bedroom closet to support the wire shelving.

Vent cover for air intake was installed.

Under cabinet lighting was added.

May 7, 2019 11:14AM

Water/Sewer pipes were laid.

3rd floor laundry room doors were replaced with bifold doors. The original doors blocked the entire hallway.

Window sills were added on the 3rd floor.  There had been an issue with water leaking in, so they waited to put the sills on until this was solved.

Handles and knobs were put on the kitchen cabinets.

May 9, 2019

The kitchen countertops were installed.

Stairs to the roof were installed.

May 11, 2019

Water softener was installed.

Kitchen counter, sink, disposal and soap dispenser were installed.

Bathroom faucets were installed.

Master toilet was installed. Handles for master shower were installed.  The plumber had a question about how to mount the handheld shower so he didn't get that installed yet.

May 12, 2019

The half bath vanity has a lip that slants toward the wall so the builder advised that I would need to add a backsplash to keep water from pooling against the sheetrock.  It took me 2 trips each to Home Depot and Lowe's and 1 trip to Floor and Decor before I found a backsplash tile I liked.

May 13, 2019 10:38AM

We discovered that the rooftop refrigerator had been damaged in shipping so we would have to send it back.

The handheld shower was installed in both master baths.  The issue was that I wanted it to fit as close to the wall as possible and it was difficult to find a straight pipe and matching escutcheon.  We ended up using a 3 inch pipe and the escutcheon that came the shower head since it couldn't be seen.

May 14, 2019 11:37AM

The tilers came back to tile the backsplash and finish some of the flooring.

We finally got to see the elevator door open!  I had to remind the tilers that we wanted the floor of the elevator tiled too.

It's getting real!!!
