Knock Knock, Who's there? Doors!

The doors are being installed right now!  Things are really starting to happen!  You have probably figured out that the house is not going to be ready by the original estimated completion date (mid-November) since it has come and gone.  The builder has given us a new estimate of the end of March.  I'm concerned about how close that is to April Fool's Day.  Hope he's not planning an April Fool's Joke on us!

We ordered a gate for the front entrance.  Our Greek style exterior calls for a blue dome over the elevator, blue garage doors and blue trim around the windows.  We wanted the gate to match, so we are having it powder coated.  Tony ordered samples of the powder coat colors. We chose rainbow blue (the second from the right).  Its really hard to tell from the pictures but we hope it will look okay.

The doors for the garage level arrived and the waterproofing of the decks and roof got underway.

The HVAC guy came and started installing the duct work.

We went back to Floor and Decor to select our tile.  This time we met with the decorator who was very helpful.  I am concerned about the floor tile though.  They didn't have enough in stock for our project.  They have it on order and they hope it will be on the shipment that is due into Savannah in January.  Fingers crossed!  If its not available, it will be back to the drawing board.

The framing for the pocket doors was installed.

The electrician came and started laying out where the outlets and lights would be.  We asked for a meeting with him so we could make sure everything would be as we expected it.

December 3, 2018

We met with the electrician and did a walk-thru.  We added a number of outlets and can lights and rearranged where some of the switches would be.  We discussed the placement of the television in the living area.  Since we are doing the open staircase, there will not be a wall to mount the TV on.  The electrician suggested that we hang the TV from the ceiling and put the control boxes in the master closet.  He assured us that the security guy could handle the TV installation so we asked for another meeting with him.

The exterior doors for the 2nd and third level arrived!

We met with the security guy from Atlantic Companies about mounting the TV.  He was not in favor of our idea to hang the TV from the ceiling so we decided to put it on the wall next to the elevator.  He will install it with a SM-VM-ART1-IW-L VERSA BOX W/ ARTICULATING MOUNT which will house the cable box inside the wall.

Atlantic Companies will not install the security cameras that we purchased.  They will do the wiring for them but it will be up to us to program them.  They will only install security cameras that they supply.

The electrician is continuing to get the wiring in place.  We will have one electric panel on the third floor in the craft room and another on the 2nd floor in the pantry.

The plumber arrived and started getting the plumbing installed.  He expressed concern about our idea to use multiple electric tankless water heaters but Tony has done research and believes that this is the best way to go.

The replacement windows arrived.  I think I mentioned in a previous blog entry that the wrong windows were ordered for the front of the house.  The plans called for opening windows but the builder overlooked that in his bid.  He asked if we could get by with only four of the eight opening.  We were okay with that since we have the french doors on the front too.

December 12, 2018

The doors were moved to the correct floors and ready to be installed.

December 13, 2018

The replacement windows were installed and door installation began.

That's all for now!  Stay tuned!
